Why Support the WSO?

As you may know, we have a jewel here in Westfield; it’s called the Westfield Symphony Orchestra which was created in 1983 as the vision of a group of dedicated community members who believed that the expression of history and culture through the performance of classical and light-classical music enhances the quality of community life. It is rare in a town of our size to have a fully professional symphony orchestra. And to maintain a symphony orchestra as renown as the WSO, individual and community support is vital.

Today, the WSO is a widely acclaimed, fully professional organization that performs a series of five concerts each year. The Symphony is also involved in extensive community outreach bringing classical symphonic experiences to under-served populations in pre-schools, schools, nursing homes and community centers.

The Westfield Symphony is designated by the Freeholders as the Resident Orchestra of Union County, New Jersey. The New Jersey State Council for the Arts has recognized the Symphony as a Distinguished Arts Organization for its contribution to the quality of life in the region. It has also received recognition from the National Endowment for the Arts.
